About the event
Angela Peita is a spoken word artist, community cultural development worker, workshop facilitator and live art producer.
She is co-founder and co-director of Ruckus Slam, the hugely popular Brisbane slam and arts company. Angela has
performed around Australia and overseas, and has appeared at such festivals as Woodford Folk Festival, Jungle Love, Red Dirt Festival & and Women Of The World.
She has been published online through The Griffith Review, Pressure Gauge Press and Bareknuckle Books, Featured in the Solid Air collection, has been a QLD poetry slam finalist, has won the Bellingen Writers Festival slam people’s choice award, and most recently, she was awarded the Brisbane Festival's Community Heroes award for her contributions to the arts.
She has performed across many towns, schools and festivals, and is an energetic and innovative teacher. Angela is passionate about creating spaces for artistic expression and enacting social change through the arts.
